Can I Set/Change Typing Benchmarks?
Setting and changing typing benchmarks is a great way to motivate your students and ensure they are meeting your desired standards for accuracy and speed. With Typing.com's PLUS exclusive feature, you can customize these benchmarks to align with your educational goals. Let's dive into the steps to set or change these benchmarks!
NOTE: This feature is PLUS exclusive.
Step 1: Log in to your Teacher Portal HERE.
Step 2: Click on “Classes.”
Step 3: Hover over the class you want to edit and click the gear icon on the right side.
Step 4: Click on the “Grading” tab.
Screen Completion Requirements:
Step 5A: In the 'Benchmarks' section, set the minimum accuracy, speed, or both that students must achieve to complete a typing screen and move on to the next. If students do not meet the minimum requirements, they will need to complete the typing screen again.
Pro-Tip: If the field is blank (or set to 0), no minimum is required to complete the typing screen.
Star Requirements
Students can earn stars after completing a typing screen based on accuracy settings available on the Teacher Portal. One star is automatically earned for completing a typing screen, regardless of typing accuracy. Additional stars are earned by meeting accuracy criteria.
Pro tip: You may leave it on the default settings (95% for three stars and 90% for 2 stars) by leaving this field blank.
Step 5B: Set the minimum accuracy required for earning two and three stars.
Step 6: Click “Save all Changes.”
